1: Elton Brand - 24.4ppg, 12.1rpg, 2.1apg, 1spg, 4bpg, 1.3tpg, .497FG%, .782FT%
Playing the least amount of minutes out of all of the players in the top 10 is Elton Brand. Playing only 34 minutes per game, EB42 is statistically the leagues most effective player. Averaging just above 24ppg, 12rpg and a league high 4bpg, Brand uses the most of his time on the floor and has therefore been crowned the BBS' Most Effective Player.
2: Tim Duncan - 26.1ppg, 11.9rpg, 2.4apg, .9spg, 2.7bpg, 1.8tpg, .473FG%, .745FT%
On the floor for only a minute longer than Brand is the leagues best power forward, Tim Duncan. TD is currently playing just over 35 minutes per game and is putting up averages of 26, 12 and 2.5apg. The Big Fundamental is also registering 2.7bpg along with a minimal 1.8tpg whilst shooing 47% from the field.
3: Dirk Nowitzki - 29.3ppg, 8.8rpg, 4.1apg, 1.7spg, 0.8bpg, 1.4tpg, .491FG%, .783FT%, .4053P%
The big German comes in as the leagues 3rd most effective player. Clocking up a little over 38 minutes per outing, the small forward puts up 29.3ppg and also manages to dish out a wink over 4apg. Dirk shoots at 49% from the field, 78% from the line and a terrific 40% from behind the arch. He has also managed to limit his turnover count (despite his high apg as a forward) to only 1.4 per game.
4: Kevin Garnett - 25.6ppg, 10.2rpg, 4apg, 1.4spg, 1.5bpg, 2.8tpg, .505FG%, .804FT%
On the court more than the above 3 is Tim Duncan’s partner in crime, Kevin Garnett. Putting up 25 and a half points per game along with 10 boards per outing, the Big Ticket (shooting 50% from the field and 80% from the stripe) is statistically the leagues 4th most effective player.
5: Kobe Bryant - 27.1ppg, 7.4rpf, 4.3apg, 1.9spg, .8bpg, 1.6tpg, .494FG%, .814FT%, .4223P%
Kobe is the first guard to be mentioned and deservedly so. KB8 clocks in at just over 38 minutes per game and averages 27.1ppg (49% from the field, 81% from the line and 42% from 3 point territory), 4.3apg, 7.4rpg and 1.9spg. Only turning the ball over 1.6 times per game as a guard, Kobe is the leagues 5th most effective on-court player.
6: Dwyane Wade - 31.1ppg, 6.1rpg, 4.6apg, 2.3spg, 2.2tpg, .5FG%, .88FT%, .4013P%
Dwyane Wade is not only one of the most effective players in the BBS today, however he is also the most proficient scorer (leads the league averaging 31.1ppg) on the best team in the West. Shooting at right on 50% from the field, 88% from the line and 40% from down town, Wade is shooting at a phenomenal clip. Putting up just over 6 rebounds per game and 4 assists, D-Wade is an MVP candidate and a player who uses his time on the floor to his advantage.
7: Shaquille O'Neal - 23.7ppg, 10.9rpg, 3.5apg, 1spg, 1.6bpg, 1.9tpg, .469FG%, .625FT%
Racking up close to 24ppg, 11rpg and 4apg in only 35mpg this season is veteran big man, Shaquille O'Neal. Averaging a steal and 1 and a half blocks per game this year whilst shooting at 46% from the field (low for his standards), Shaq will most definitely be looking to convert his on court, individual effectiveness into W's for his team.
8: Pau Gasol - 26.4ppg, 12rpg, 3.2apg, 1.1spg, 1.4bpg, 3tpg, .483FG%, .822FT%
Although he turns the ball over 3 times a game (more than all of the above players), the young Spaniard remains a top 10 player in the league and now, the 8th most effective. Averaging 26.4 points per night (48% from the floor, 82% from the line), Pau, who plays a little over 36 minutes a game will seize the opportunity to improve and inevitably climb the MIP leader board.
9: Baron Davis - 22.5ppg, 4.2rpg, 10.3apg, 2.2spg, 2.7tpg, .465FG%, .782FT%, .3873P%
The best and most effective point guard currently playing in the BBS is clearly Baron Davis. Dishing the ball off a stellar 10.3 times a game whilst only turning it over 2.7 times, B-Diddy is by far the leagues best point man. Chipping in with 22.5ppg, 4.2rpg and 2.7spg whilst shooing at 46& from the field, Davis is a player who loves to get his teammates involved and win games.
10: Ben Wallace - 13.5ppg, 12.6rpg, 2.5apg, 1.5spg, 2.8bpg, 1.6tpg, .436FG%, .488FT%
Averaging almost 17ppg less than the man 4 spots above him (Dwyane Wade) is the ever ready, ever impressive and ever determined Ben Wallace. Averaging 13.5ppg off a lowly 43% from the field, Wallace's scoring is not why he is so valuable, or in this case; effective. His averages of 12.6rpg, 2.5apg, 1.5spg, 2.8bpg and only 1.6tpg place him as one of the leagues most effective players per minute in the BBS.
Honourable Mention: Jermaine O'Neal, Yao Ming, Gilbert Arenas, Tony Parker, Tyson Chandler, Tracy McGrady, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Antawn Jamison, Steve Nash and Jamal Mashburn.
