Written before day 99...lots can change, but here they are.
MVP
Dirk Nowitzki – Philadelphia 76ers
I tried finding another player comparable to Nowitzki, his numbers, and his impact this season, but no one came close. Other than the 32 points per game, the most amazing stat is the field goal percentage and the amount of field goals attempted. Dirk ranks in the top 10 in both categories, shooting 24 attempts per game, sinking 50% of the shots. Though the Sixers have slowed lately, Dirk will surely carry them into the playoffs, making them a strong favorite to take the crown.
Defensive Player of the Year
Ben Wallace – Philadelphia 76ers
This year, no one put up a defensive presence close to Ben Wallace. His 4.1 blocks per game easily tops second place Shawn Bradley and his 3.4 blocks per game. On top of that, Ben Wallace is grabbing an absurd 13 rebounds per game. Other than Tim Duncan, no other player comes close. Lastly, Wallace anchors the second best defense in the league, and will surely be a big time presence as Philadelphia goes for the crown.
GM of the Year
Bizzle – Phoenix Suns
Bizzle walked into an atrocious situation, with no real assets. Bizzle started by dealing for top five shooting guard, Larry Hughes. Hughes has been a monster, averaging 25 points per game on 47% shooting. Hughes also is a major defensive presence, totaling two steals per game. After the Hughes deal, Bizzle dealt for point guard Mike Bibby, who has put up 16/9, while shooting a respectable clip. After working on his backcourt, Bizzle went out and strengthened his front court, dealing for Joe Smith and Theo Ratliff. To finish, his past draft pick, Carlos Boozer, is quietly putting up 16/9.
Rookie of the Year
Yao Ming – New York Knicks
Outlawz struck gold at the three spot by drafting the Asian giant, Yao Ming. Ming has stepped in immediately, contributing 24/10/2 blocks per game. Already, Yao Ming is a top five center and will eventually take the top place, once Shaq and Duncan start declining. With two important picks in the upcoming draft, Outlawz will only add to his star center.
Trade of the Year
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce – Indiana Pacers
Duce took an already strong frontcourt, Garnett/Foyle, and created the second greatest frontcourt in BBS history (not giving the title up yet, Barkley/Dream/Oden is too good). In his initial sim, Duncan showed why Duce gave up the young phenom Amare Stoudamire. Duncan notched 41, 43, and 52 points in his first three games as a Pacer. The addition did not hurt KG, as he put up 19, 34, and 23 points. Though players like Steve Nash, Terrell Brandon, and Alonzo Mourning have been studs, Tim Duncan is going to change the playoff landscape now, and years to come.
Team of the Year
Spencer Martin – Golden State Warriors
After winning a championship, Spencer Martin has assembled a team even more devastating. With a current record of 56-11, and the top backcourt in BBS, the Warriors have a great chance at repeating. Though Wade and Baron have been amazing, the real contribution comes from the unheralded role players, each doing the dirty work. Tractor Traylor has put up a ridiculous 2.6 blocks per game, while playing the thief 1.5 times a night. The Warriors rank in the top ten in almost every category, and are the favorites to represent the West in the upcoming championship.
