In the past few seasons, the Lakers have struggled to make a big impact during the season, and thus when playoff time rolled around they were always one and done. After three years of watching his beloved Lakers stall, GM Garf decided it was time to make a change.
Garf was becoming extremely frustrated with the inconstant play from their young point guard, Jamal Tinsley. His high turnover ratio began to draw boos from Leonardo Dicaprio and Jack Nicholson. Throughout the beginning of the season, he scoured the league for expendable point guards who would become an upgrade over Tinsley. He considered many possible deals that would fill the void, but none excited him more until he learned of the availability of Steve Nash.
It took several meetings between GM Basone and GM Garf to finalize the deal, but once they came to an agreement, the Lakers had decided to send Tinsley, Dunleavy, and Mark Jackson, along with several first round picks for Steve Nash. In the prime of his career, Nash has the chance to anchor this team to a western conference championship along with the best player in the whole wide world, even better than that stupid Dwyane Wade. Nash's ability to make his teammates better has even further helped elevate Kobe Bryant's game. After learning about the acquisition, the Lakers coach decided it was time to revamp the offense, and decided that with another 3-Point shooter, it was time to turn to an outside focus.
Since acquring Nash, the Lakers have spotted a 9-2 record, including an impressive win over the San Antonio Spurs, and a complete domination of the Dallas Mavericks. They have tallied up wins over 40 and 50 points, and they are currently riding an 8 game winning streak. Nash himself, has already won a POW award for the Lakers, along with a POM award.
The Lakers currently have one of the top records in the West, and they hope to move further up, and capture at least the 2nd seed in the West.
The team seems to be headed in the right direction. Fans are very excited to enter the Staples Center and experience the outstanding tandum of Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Garf is also developing other young players such as Randolph, Magloire, Richardson and Curry, which has helped to create solid depth for the team, which will be huge come playoff time.
