The Pistons will win the Championship this year.
Hernando-Fact. Their biggest addition so far I believe, has been Ron Artest. Ron Artest brings both the offense and defense that the Pistons are known for. They should win 4 out of 5 positional match-ups in any playoff series they're in.
Aaron-- Fiction, the Pacers have owned the Pistons this year, and will beat them in the conference finals, on their way to the championship.
JAH-FICTION - It is no question a possibility. I say about 35%, however that’s less than a 50/50 shot with the other top teams out there. I do think they are the favorite though.
Scott-Fact-The East is so close between Indiana and Detroit, but Detroit just goes deeper and have a few more options to get points out of if certain guys don't play well. For the same reasons as above, I like Detroit to win in the Finals as well.
Jeremy-Fact. They are heads above the best team in the league and have the best GM in the league in Reilly, I feel that the AI trade most definitely put him over the top. I do not believe even any team from West is up to their standard or even close. The only teams I could see knocking them off are Indiana and Philly, but I am still convinced they are heads above them also.
Galo-Fact. But if for some reason they are upset early, the Pacers have an excellent chance of getting their first chip. The Pistons have a better bench than the Pacers and arguably have better starters than all the Pacers' starters with the exception of Garnett.
Boss-Fact. Although Indiana and Philly stand just as good a chance in the East, it's hard to go against Detroit, from top to bottom there is none better.
Duce-Fiction. There's no logical reason but I picked Philadelphia and I'm not changing that. The 6ers offense will be too hard to match up with and their defense up front is awesome.
The Raps will win 50 next year because they don’t have their own pick.
Hernando-Fact. One of the major factors will be because they don't have their own pick and because DJ will eventually make a good DC. More than that, everyone on their team will gain another year of experience, which should bring more good training camps.
Aaron-- Fact, DJ will actually fix his DC until he starts to win. The talent is there, and another TC will only add to his star studded lineup.
JAH-FICTION - The east is to good and they just aren’t that good. I say 43-39 for the Raptors next year and the 8 seed.
Scott-Fact-I think they'll win 50, but it won't be because they don't have their pick. I've looked at their team, and they seem to be one more scorer away, as well as another offseason to let Redd develop into a true scorer who can be counted on for 18 ppg or so.
Jeremy-Fiction. I get the impression that his team will be maybe a playoff contender next year and won't be a championship team until like 3 years from now. The DC's have been strange from him lately and have made me wonder what direction he actually he wants his team to go in.
Galo-Fact. DJ had this planned all along. Having a lotto pick from every year till next year helped him stockpile his roster with enough talent to take over the East eventually. A roster potentially of Yao Ming, Kirilenko, T-Mac, Redd, and Arenas is a very real possibility.
Boss-Fiction. Don't know how the team will look at the start of next season, but right now I'd say they are an okay team, not a 50 win team since they lack an interior presence both offensively and defensively. Arenas, T-Mac, Redd can be a nasty scoring trio, just need to add something to that.
Duce-Fiction. They'll come up short of 50 barely and them winning will have nothing to do with a choice to tank. Their players will break out and be a year older. However, nobody will buy it and they'll bitch about it forever.
Tanking is worse in BBS then in other leagues.
Hernando-Never been in another sim league, but for practical purposes I'll say fact. For some reason, teams believe that just because one team seems to be the favorite it means they won't be able to compete. Rather than tanking, teams should plan for FA, or trade for some other players that can eventually become good trade bait, in order to trade for some better players.
Aaron-- Unable to answer, I am not familiar with other leagues, but tanking in BBS is horrible. GMs are building their teams in a very weak way. Instead of going out making trades, adjusting lineups, and doing the small things to make teams better, they sit back and tank for a number of years. It's a complete joke which still needs more work in order to eliminate this problem.
JAH-FACT - Most other leagues have 1-4 teams per season in full rebuild mode. I'm talking dump everyone for expiring and picks no matter who they are. It just seems like we have a lot more than that here.
Scott-Fiction-I think all leagues have the same tanking capabilities. Obviously, GMs know draft classes for years in advance with retro leagues. I've seen some commishes allow DCs to be set any way the GM wants to set them, but Spencer does keep an eye on the DC and makes sure the team puts their best players on the court (not necessarily using the best strategies though).
Jeremy-Fact. I just believe there is no incentive to win unless you already have a team is that is capable of winning. People are just thinking that they can build their team around drafts and the FA market, but I personally believe unless you can assure your team is that bad, the pick will never pan out.
Galo-Fact. Although I am not in a lot of other leagues anymore. I have never seen a blatant display of tanking like I've seen in this league. For example, some teams giving away pretty good role players and decent starters for second round picks or expirings is pretty low for such a good league.
Boss-Fact, I guess. I've seen some funny things in my short time here. Personally I don't think dumping solid/ok players for pretty much nothing is worth it towards the end of the season just to lose a few more games.
Duce-Well, Fact. I haven't really been in many other leagues but I think there are other factors. Rookie profiles and less desire to settle for being a playoff team. Many GM's here are winners and will do what it takes to build a championship-squad. So it is worse because everyone wants to do it.
D2A is the next GM to go.
Hernando-I think D2A has been in BBS too long to get fired, but he technically should be the next one or two gms to be fired. Jordan has stepped it up recently, as has AIG (although all of his posts are repeats of what other people have said), so it seems by default he should be ready to pack his bags.
Aaron-- Fiction, with his team playing so well, D2A will show a bit more activity than the other gms who are close to being replaced.
JAH-FICION - This question was asked a couple months ago and several have left since. His team is doing real well somehow, he has raised his post count greatly. That and the fact that I have to fire him which I won't do while he still owes me money.
Scott-Fiction-He was rather inactive in the old BBS too, and he always seems to put a good team on the court. This season, he has another good team out there. I feel like he is a strong asset to this league although he may not be all that active.
Jeremy-Fiction. I'm not sure who will be the next GM, but ever since earlier season he has stepped up his activity somewhat. I don't know if that is enough for you Spence to go by but, we'll see what happens.
Galo-Fiction. Not sure how you can fire a GM that has his team in his first place in their division. D2A is not the easiest GM to deal with but he has a vision on how to run his team unlike other owners in the league. For the most part, there are some GMs that are really lacking in activity. But, until someone actually slacks off enough in going stretches without being on the board, is when someone will get fired.
Boss-Fiction. Don't know what the situation is here. Last I saw he made a deal a couple days ago, don't know how much he's been around or whatever, but doesn't make much of a difference to me who the GM is.
Duce-Fiction. I hope not, but I hate even answering this question. Whether he's next or anyone else is next really doesn't matter to me and I'm not throwing anyone under the bus here.
Jeremy will never be a GM in BBS.
Hernando-Fiction. You told Jeremy he was next!
Aaron-- Fiction, Jeremy continues to show his desire to enter BBS as a GM, and will one day get his team. As stated, allowing Spence to watch over his every move will only create certainty that he cannot completely destroy his team.
JAH-FACT - Spencer finds him very annoying (as do many people) He'll be an assistant for life.
Scott-Fiction-Jeremy will get his shot sooner or later. I think that any time that Jeremy spends as an assistant will especially help though. It keeps him involved with the league and he can continue to learn from not only Hernando but other GMs that he may talk to. Sooner or later, the league's going to see Jeremy in action as a GM.
Jeremy-Fiction. I should be the next guy to get a team, and like I stated before about the GM situation someone is bound to make a questionable deal that might make you wonder if they deserve to be in the league.
Galo-Fiction. I thought he should have taken over PHX but I guess it was not meant to be. He seems like a good guy and smart GM sometimes, but could say some questionable and quirky comments on issues. It is tough, but I think Spencer will find it in his heart like he found it in mine, to let him in the league eventually.
Boss-Fact. Not really much to say, just from what I've read about him, I don't see it happening.
Duce-Fiction. He's learning in UOSL as we speak. You can tell he's a beginner and all that other stuff but he has potential to be a great GM in my mind. He just has to be willing to be patient.
LeBron James will dominate the BBS from Day 1.
Hernando-Fiction. There is a lot of depth at SG/SF in BBS right now, so it'll probably take him two years to be mentioned as one of the elite players in BBS.
Aaron-- Fact, I have to imagine James is going to go on an extremely weak team, thus allowing his stats to sky rocket. Will he win a championship from day one? No. But his stats will be spectacular for a rookie.
JAH-FICTION - He will be a very good player....But dominate? No.
Scott-Fact-I wanted to say fiction since his ratings as of now are solid but not spectacular. However, I think that teams will plan on doing the same thing that teams like Toronto and Golden State have done with Arenas and Wade. That is, they will plan on devoting a RC to Lebron's scoring in order to make him a force from Day 1.
Jeremy-Fact. He reminds me of a Michael Jordan during the 80's and 90's. I know its hard to make that comparison but, oh well I did. He has the ability the dominate anywhere. Only issue I see with him is if they can take on a leadership role on the team he is drafted by. Also, you need to put a quality team around him. He is a beastly stud, but he can't win a championship all by himself.
Galo-Fact. There's no reason why he should not. Dwayne Wade already dominates in the league and is a favorite for ROY. James should do the same but probably even better. And, probably with the number of teams tanking for him, will be very good on a very bad team.
Boss-Fiction. He'll be great of course but I don't see him being significantly better or more dominant than some other rookies from the get go that this league has had.
Duce-Fiction. His numbers will be dominating but he won't lead a team to a championship or close to it off the bat, I don't think.
The West is wide open, and any of a hand full of teams could represent the West in the Finals.
Hernando-Fact. Clips, Warriors, Spurs, Jazz, Grizz can all make it to the finals, just depends who steps it up when it really matters. Each team has something that sets them apart from the other, so it seems like the West will surely be a dominant conference for years to come.
Aaron-- Fact, there is no clear cut favorite in the west. Memphis is the second seed right now, and their team is nothing more than Tony Parker and some nice role players. It's anyone’s game, but I have to lean toward the Clipps/Warriors/Spurs to come out.
JAH-FACT - The West is 100% up for grabs this season. There are probably 6 teams with a legit shot at the finals. The clippers have to be the favorite though. They did it the last two seasons and there is no reason they can't do it again.
Scott-Fact-If you take a look at the West, not only are there a lot of similar records, but a lot of teams are very similar. Golden State, LA Clippers, and Memphis do appear to be the frontrunners at this point. However, there are other teams (like Utah) that match up very well with the above three.
Jeremy-Fact. I know I am bit biased on this but, I still believe Lakers can be a player, along with the Clipps, GS and San Antonio. Other than GS so far I haven't seen consistency on a daily basis from any of the teams. However, no team can maintain consistency all season. It'll be a fun season I’m sure.
Galo-Fiction. I am biased because I am in the West. I really only think three teams have it in them to go the finals. That is the Clippers, Warriors, and the Spurs. On the cusp, I think the Jazz and Grizz could be surprises but don’t really have the players they need to step up and make it there.
Boss-Fiction. I wouldn't say a handful. If I was picking a favorite I'd have to roll with the Clippers, Warriors are also very dangerous, and I like the Spurs team. I'd say out of those 3.
Duce-Fact. Though the Clippers are favorites to me, nobody is really dominating and everyone has their share of weaknesses.
The Kings wont make the playoffs for at least another 5 years.
Hernando-Assuming Lumley doesn't sign every great FA this year, it just seems unlikely that a team led by a #4-#6 draft pick will have any success in BBS at all. I genuinely think, that if Lumley traded some of his really good vets this year or last, for some decent younger guys, rather than trade them all away for crap this year, his team could have a chance, but just dismantling a playoff team halfway through the year doesn't seem like a good strategy to me.
Aaron-- Fiction, Lumley will have a nice pick to build around and loads of cap space, which will allow him to make the playoffs in the next few years.
JAH-FACT- Lumley seems to go in spurts. He'll make the playoffs for three strait years and then miss them for 13 strait. I don't think it will be quite that high but I do think it will be a 5-7 year phase.
Scott-Fact-Unless they can land a stud in this year's draft, they will struggle for the next couple of years. Without their own picks and without any franchise players, they may struggle to find success. Although Lumley always seems to find FA’s that seem to help him a lot, he has always had a star player to build around. He needs to land a star player in this coming draft to have a shot at the playoffs for the next 5 years.
Jeremy-Fiction. I believe not to throw out Lum's name but, you are starting to wonder about his GM abilities and that the team's direction is somewhat weird. Although if you make the draft enough times, one of these years Kings will make playoffs, even if its a different GM by then.
Galo-Fiction. I think they will start trying to win in three seasons again. Lumley likes to win and to build through free agency like some GMs mentioned already. So it wouldn’t be a shock to me if he made the playoffs in 05 or 06.
Boss-Fact. A lot of teams in the West aren't very stable, so it wouldn't surprise me if they could put together a few top draft picks and be ok, but a few teams are coming up and the conference is getting a little bit better, just speaking off of right now though, don't see it happening.
Duce-Fiction. I just don't like the odds of this statement coming true. Eventually he'll have an ok squad and grab a low seed.
Hernando-Fact. Their biggest addition so far I believe, has been Ron Artest. Ron Artest brings both the offense and defense that the Pistons are known for. They should win 4 out of 5 positional match-ups in any playoff series they're in.
