1. Phoenix Suns - Carmelo Anthony SF..... After acquiring Larry Hughes and Mike Bibby it seemed a big man like Yao Ming or Amare Stoudemire would be a perfect fit. Instead the Suns draft another scorer to give them 3 guys who could top 20 points per game. With Anthony, Hughes and Bibby now all the Suns need to do is piece together a frontline and theyll be in the playoffs this year.
2.New York Knicks - Amare Stoudemire C.....The Knicks need a big name player to lead the franchise through their rebuild movement and Amare is just the man for the job. Stoudemire will give the Knicks an athletic, dynamic frontcourt combining with Kenyon Martin. Expect both to be double digit scorers and rebounders who both could also near 2 blocks a game.
3.Milwaukee Bucks - Yao Ming C.....The Bucks never couldve expected to get someone like Yao with the 3rd pick, but with the strength at the top of this draft class the Bucks cant lose at #3. With Yao the Bucks get a legitimate #1 option and an anchor to their defense. Expect Yao to average 20-10 as a rookie.
4.Sacramento Kings - Carlos Boozer PF....The Kings need youth and talent everywhere. Theyve completely blown up their roster for a chance at one of the big 3 in this draft and are extremely dissapointed to land at #4. In Boozer they get a very solid player who could become a 20-10 guy but they have so many other holes to fill it may take up to 5 years to rebuild this club.
5.Toronto Raptors - Caron Butler SF.....The Raps have been the biggest group of underachievers ever. Will another lotto pick make them win? With guys like Tracy Mcgrady and Michael Redd on the wings already drafting a player like Butler seems like overkill. Unfortunately this is about the best they can do. Butler is a very solid scorer who can play 2 or 3. This may mean the end of tracy McGrady in T-Dot.
6.Utah Jazz - Tayshaun Prince SF.....Last year they added Richard Jefferson to solidfy their D. This year they add Prince. These 2 could become the most feared defensive wing combo in the BBS. Now if only Jason Terry could develop.
7.LA Clippers - Nene C.....The Clippers need a replacement for the aging David Robinson and Nene seems to be the perfect fit. nene will be a double digit scorer and rebounder from Day 1, and could eventually become a very skilled inside scorer with some RC attention.
8.LA Lakers - Gerald Wallace SF.....The Lakers have long been searching for a SF to team with Kobe Bryant. They acquired Jason Richardson this year, but he seems more destined to be used as trade bait for a star PG. In gerald Wallace the Lakers add much needed defense and inside scoring.
9.Indiana - Boris Diaw SF....Diaw is a perfect fit in Indiana. The Pacers have an outstanding club and they add probably the most versatile player in the draft in Diaw. Diaw can play 1, 2, 3 or 4 and might be the favorite for 6th man of the year as a rookie.
10.Atlanta - Josh Howard SF....The Hawks need a big man desperately but they cant reach for one when a talent like Howard is still on the board. Josh Howard will be a perfect compliment to the hawks super backcourt of Steve Francis and Ray Allen. Howard will step in as a 3rd scorer and a solid defender at the SF spot.
11.Houston Rockets - Drew Gooden PF....The Rockets need a PG very badly, but their isnt one that deserves to go here. Instead the Rockets add a very good rebounder and scorer in Drew Gooden. Gooden gives the Rockets yet another solid young forward to build around, or deal for a point.
12.Denver Nuggets - Nenad Krstic C....The Nuggets need a little bit of everything, so adding a nice young C like Krstic definately couldnt hurt. Krstic is also enough of a project that the Nuggets will still completely suck next year and increase their chances at LeBron James.
13.LA Lakers - Kwame Brown PF....The Lakers still need a PG, but once again no player deserves to go this high. Instead the Lakers add to their frontcourt depth by adding raw Kwame Brown. Youd think 2 of Brown, Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph will become solid players.
14.Boston Celtics - David West PF....The Celtics need a young PF to take over for the aging Karl Malone. They will probably struggle with the decision but end up taking David West. West is a very good scorer and rebounder who struggles defensively. With some RC attention West could be a very capable starter at PF.
15.Miami Heat - Mike Dunleavy SF....Taking Dunleavy here allows the Heat to move Pau Gasol back to his more natural PF spot. Dunleavy isnt a star, but should be a solid complimentary player to players such as Gasol, Richard Hamilton and Jermaine O'Neal.
