Sean Taylor Recap
Here's what we know for sure: Sean was shot near an artery in his thight, lost a lot of blood, and has been in surgery all day. The situation is very serious. He continues to be worked on as of this moment and the team continues to await for details from the hospital and family, as they are available.
Most of the players have left the building, with all but a very few opting not to speak to the media. No one knows enough to say anything substantially at this point, anyway, other than he has been in a life-threatening situation all day.
Several family members and family friends have told various Post reporters that he was in critical condition, but they were hopeful he was stabalizing. But the situation is in flux and can change at any moment.
Spoke to some people at the NFL who said in essence they have not received too much new information in the last hour or so, but that they have heard unofficially that there was an attempted robbery, Sean was shot, and he continues to be surgery and remains under surgical care.

Apparently he's now in a coma... whether or not it was induced or not is unknown. Hopefully he doesn't have any brain damage due to the loss of blood in the leg. I remember hearing that if you get shot in your femoral artery, you could die in just seconds due to the loss of blood.

Taylor's lawyer and family friend, Richard Sharpstein, said Taylor emerged from surgery in better shape and will likely live. He is in intensive care and doctors have allowed his family to see him.

Sad news.
Apparently, he's "clinging to life."
Hopefully he recovers.

Terrible day in the NFL. Its sad to see a players past catch up with him. Apparently he has been involved in other guns fights, so at this point who knows if it was a robery or just an idiot trying to get some revenge. My prayers go out to sean and his family and hopefully he will turn out alright and will not have any brain damage from the loss of blood.

There twelve people willing to tesitfy that he didn't use a gun, and just punched the gang member who stole his vehicles.

Sean is showing some responsiveness now which is a very good sign. He squeezed a nurses hand when asked to and made some facial expressions when asked. Both very good signs when it comes to brain damage.

One of my best friends goes to Duke, and one of his friends' father was the surgeon that operated on him today. He said that he flat lined twice during the surgery.

this really makes me sad. I don't care even if he was mixed up in some bad things, this is still a sad day in sports

Not a Redskin fan at all, but I always liked him because of his attitude and hard nosed play (most of the time). I imagine this has the same impact on Redskins fans, that it would have on me if Jose Reyes or David Wright were to die.

Weird, I made this exact same connection when someone texted me about it earlier. This is so sad. Wow.

You know I have been following this all morning and I was reading over at a blog over ESPN people sending condolences and whatnot. It bothered me though reading the ignorant comments that some people made. One guy responded "Wow where are all the blogs for people dieing in Iraq." Another guy responded. "Well if we had stricter gun control Sean Taylor wouldn't be dead now."
I just sat in my seat sick to my stomach. How people can degrade a death of a person because he is an "athlete." Since he is an athlete is he less of a person then you and I? Does the death of a soldier in Iraq have to be more gratified and glorified because he is a U.S soldier? A death is a death no matter who you are, no death is more or less important then the next.
Some people look up to people in the military. Their role model is the American solider. Then their are some people who wear Sean Taylor uniforms. They look to him as a role model.
The guy just fucking died and we already have these ass clowns raining their jealousy and self-pity due to their insecurity's. I just wanted to yell "Who the fuck are you to decide that this man shouldn't be able to have people grieve over his death" Ignorant fucks like these clowns ruin this country.
