Because Lasik surgery is a natural surgery that repairs a loss or lack of eyesight, something everyone should have the right to have.

Because Lasik surgery is a natural surgery that repairs a loss or lack of eyesight, something everyone should have the right to have. Many believe that some of Ted Williams success came from his amazing eyesight. So if someone gets LASIK done making their eyesight from 30-30 to 20-10 or what not.....isn't that having the same effect as steroid's which is having an advantage over other's? I am not taking a side here I really never thought of such things like LASIK and Tommy John surgery have been considered by others in the same ballpark as steroids. Steroids make you hit the ball farther and iincrease your bat speed. While LASIK improves other aspects. If guys are getting LASIK for the sole purpose of improving their vision for baseball related issues I don't see why it cannot be characterized in the same ballpark as steroids.

but where do you draw the line of say, if i tear my ACL is getting surgery to repair it the same as steroids or lasik? There is nothing that I know about with ACL surgery that benefits you after the surgery making some aspect of you better then it was previously.

lmao this arguement is so retarded.
Lasik surgery is just for someone who either a) can't wear contacts or b)is sick and tired of wearing contacts/glasses.
I don't get the comparison, at all, there are really no side-effects to Lasik surgery. You can't die, you have a .0001% chance of going blind, or it having no affect, but you can die from steroids and if not death, have serious side-effects. There's a huge difference between the two.

Also normally it still hinders near sidedness. So even if you could see the ball from far it doesnt help much when the ball is close.

For once I agree with Martinez. It doesnt help you hit the ball further, increase bat speed, help you run faster etc. It helps you see better theoretically, and not necessarily better than avg, maybe just avg.
Talk about apples and oranges there really isnt a comparison.

Don't forget that it's the first miliseconds of the pitch being thrown is the most important part of the decision of whether or not to swing. If you can see it the pitch is going to cut/curve/slide immediately, and you make te decision to swing, you are likely to hit it. If it takes more than that, you are likely swinging just for the hell of it or you tihnk it's good enough.
That's the part of the 20-10 vision of baseball players that helps them be patient at the plate as well as make contact very often. And sometimes where you hit the ball on the bat is all that you need to get it over the fence...as opposed to a pop-up to short.
