So apparently the Yankees and Arod are back into negotiations (without Boras) and I was just wondering what any of you guys thought about Arod returning to the yankees after opting out of his contract.

Going to be hilarious to see the reaction Yankee fans give after everything they've said about him for the last three weeks.

On wfan.com you can listen to John Sterling's phone call on Mike and the Mad Dog. Apparently today Sterling called in on the Mike and the Mad Dog show and Sterling reoprtidly said he was told from an inside source that Arod came in to talk with the Yankees on his own (without Boras) and apparently he signed a 10 year 270 million dollar deal. Thoughts?

He loves his image. If he went in without Boras, the point is to show New York fans that he "cares", that he "wants to be a Yankee", that he'll "settle for less to be a Yankee", blah blah. I bet Boras told him to go in by himself, if this report is true. He gets the fans back on his side (for going against Boras), he gets a huge contract, and he gets to remain in the spotlight (i.e. endorsements) for the rest of his career. It's pretty brilliant if it is true.

Thoughts? Something is wrong with the report. Either it didn't happen, or Boras is involved. Apparently, the CBA states that a team cannot refuse to speak to a player's agent (assuming they want the player) after the player has designated the agent as his agent. Since Boras is A-Rod's agent, the Yankees can't negotiate with A-Rod while also saying "we won't negotiate with Scott Boras". If A-Rod went in, he went in with Boras, or without him but without the Yankees saying Boras can't be involved. A-Rod could very well be close to signing a deal, but the WFAN report is probably wrong on the finer details.

Isnt arod suppose to take a major cut of salary as well for making the yankees lose the 20 million that texas was suppose to give them for the trade.
This pisses me off, even if he is the best player in baseball, i use to like him, now i just think he is an asshole.

i honestly didn't mind the opt-out. i wish he let the yanks make him a pitch before he left, but it was part of the contract. he owed it to himself to test the market if he really wanted to. i'd take him back in a second.

A-Rod has agreed to the outline of a 10 year, $275 million deal.
Yikes.

with massive incentive bonuses
arod would have been an idiot to leave the yankees... they r the only team that can really afford him at this point and still be very competitive... the angels might have been but i dont think they would have been a playoff team every year like the yankees are going to be

What cracks me up about this (it's really amazing) is that no one is talking about the contract. No one. It's "A-Rod back to the Yankees...Wow!" not "Did he really just get 280 million?". I love it.

A-rod's numbers will always be great but he will never be a winner. I wanted the yankees to go out and win without him. Nobody was offering the ridiculous number he was looking for so now he wants to be a yankee. I wouldn't of offered him more than 7 years. He's so fake. The Boras thing is an obvious ploy. Im surprised the Yanks bit so fast. I would rather have saved that money and just try to get someone like lowell and improve the starting pitchin somehow

I think that's nice to say in theory, but honestly, they need him. They're flat out not that good without him (not by their standards). Money is money, and they have it. It's a pathetic situation on all parts now, but he needs them, and they need him.

i love how people say they would be better without arod. arod wasnt near the garbage some of the other players were this postseason and without arod they dont even make the postseason. they will ALWAYS be better off with arod than without. for texas they were better without because they couldnt afford his contract and 24 other players.
