Suns traded center Kurt Thomas this morning in a move that relieves some salary-cap pressure.
Thomas goes to the Seattle SuperSonics, along with the Suns' own 2008 and 2010 first-round draft picks in exchange for a future conditional 2nd round pick and a trade exception, worth about $8 million.
The Suns have done nothing positive since Brian Colangelo has left and this is another questionable move.

They free up alot of cap space... i don't see this trade as being questionable. Kurt Thomas is up there in age and his best years are behind them. I also do not see the Suns 1sts being lotto anytime soon... while yes it's real life and those 1sts can become really really good players, but they still won't be "good."

I don't mind the deal, but they should have kept the 2010 1st...Marion & Nash will be 30+ I believe, so who knows, that pick could be lotto.

I think the Suns have made some bad decisions.
I know that the draft is no guarantee to get a good player, especially where they have picked. but man they just keep giving up these picks like they are worth nothing. And as some have said in 2010 they could be bad. Nash will not be able to last forever.
The Suns haven't had a 1rst round pick since 2003. That's a long time to go without a 1rst.
Here is what I don't get. In 2006 they could have had Rajon Rando in the draft. But they traded him along with Brian Grant so I guess that saved them money for a future 1rst. Then they go out and sign Marcus Banks. I don't get why they signed Banks when Barbosa would take Nash's minutes and they had to see that signing Banks would put them in a bad situation with the cap.
If it was me, i'd keep Kurt Thomas and have sent the two 1rst round picks with Banks somewhere. That is the guy that needed to be dealt. But that's JMO.
