Earl Boykins bench press is 315lbs! This weeks spotlight is on Earl Boykins bench press. Earl Boykins has a huge bench press for his weight. At a tiny 133lbs. (60.3 kg), Earl have a 1 REP MAX bench press of 315 lbs! That's almost 2.5 times his bodyweight. Earl has the rcord for being the smallest player in the NBA.
When researching Earl Boykins bench press we could not find any solid evidence (like pictures or videos) that he can actually bench that much. Some sources even reported that he benched over 500lbs - which is obviously not true. Here are some Earl Boykins stats and pictures. When you see his size, it's amazing to think his bench is anywhere near the 300lb mark.

Yea when Earl was a Clipper they used to talk about his bench press. Im willing to be that Rip and Reggie dont bench alot but more then likely go for the amount of reps to build stamina.

well i mostly agree dj but upper body strength does matter for stamina(because your whole body matters for that). a lot of weak-framed guys play less minutes. that being said, durant is obviously capable of filling out so it's a non-issue. i still think he's the next tim thomas. I dont remember Tim Thomas being that great an all around player. Why do you say he reminds you of Thomas? Thomas could never handle the ball as well as Durant. Thomas never had the athleticism Durant has I dont think and he's still going to fill out and get stronger. How old are all these guys they're comparing him too? Most are seniors right? Thats so irrelevent at this point in his career. Few years age difference at that age makes a big difference. And be careful to not get too caught up in the numbers. Lot of guys have impressive workout stats but have no game. Jerry Rice is a great example, he supposedly only ran about a 4.6 40 in workouts. But during games how many times did you see him caught from behind? Workout numbers are just a small part of the overall picture. I would'nt place too much emphasis on this stuff.

I dont want to get in a big argument here but Thomas was nowhere near the prospect Durant is considered. Here's the 1997 draft with him.
. Tim Duncan, Wake Forest San Antonio 2. Keith Van Horn, Utah Philadelphia 3. Chauncey Billups, Colorado Boston 4. Antonio Daniels, Bowling Green Vancouver 5. Tony Battie, Texas Tech Denver 6. Ron Mercer, Kentucky Boston 7. Tim Thomas, Villanova New Jersey
He was the 7th pick. And you'll have to show me some links to articles where scouts are saying how great he was gonna be. I dont remember that at all. Other than Duncan which of these guys then would be drafted ahead of Durant? This was pretty much known as a 1 player draft from what I remember.

Gregor, if you wikepedia tim thomas i'm sure you'll see he was touted highly, he was one of the top prospects in 96 and 97 when he was @ villanova. he was 7th BUT he was traded right away to the #2 pick team in an 8 player deal. i agree he wasn't quite as big as durant, but he was big.

Not saying he wasnt considered a good prospect.
He wasnt considered a franchise saver like Durant and Oden are though.
