I was just wondering if anyone thinks that well see like an equivalent of Soccer in the sense of European and World-Wide Soccer tournments like the FA Cup in basketball. I would think it would be quite cool getting all the Clubs in the World for a huge tournement yearly. Now you might think that the NBA might just dominate the show but Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Toronto a couple years ago and theres always cinderella's. For example the Carling Cup in England gets everyteam in every league (which is around 30) to participate and right now it's three of the biggest Club's Arsenal Chelseas and Tottenham with Wycombe of Division 2 which is 3 divisions under the premier. It would be very intresting to see if this is persued in a couple of years

Teams like Maccabi, CSKA, and Tau are very good, but aren't on the level of the NBA teams quite yet. Also, I'm guessing these teams will be playing the Spurs/Pistons/Suns of the league, not the Raps, so they'd probably beat them easily. On a side note, did they have tournaments like this in the early 90's? I remember the champions went to Europe to play in some McDonald's sposonored tournament, but don't remember much about it.

They should give the Championship title to the team that finishes with the best record... then run the playoffs as usual as an extra tournament following the season. That way the team that finishes 1st overall gets rewarded for its efforts over an entire 82 game sched. This is one of the things that is good about Football.
