C+ B B C D- A
He has very good handles, nice vision/passing skills(low turnovers), shot 52% from the floor this season... although not a great 3pt shooter(33-35%). Real good at slashing for a layup. Nice mid range jumper. Poor defender and rebounder. Should still have nice potential. Won a World Championship with Spain.

He's a very good player.
Other analysts always remark that Calderon should be starting in place of Ford. He's easily better than any other PG in this draft class. And Im not just being a homer. Guy can play... well, he cant play D or rebound, but he can play.

He has already been traded and cut and he's only been in the league 2 seasons. Nelson isn't anything special. He's one of the reasons the Magic stuggled after that hot start. Weak point guard play. Calderon is a very good player and was a big reason Spain won the World Championships. Look at his stats from this season... 52% shooting, 5 assts in 21 min.

Lets put it this way... Calderon is different than Tj Ford... but is just as good in the assist department, a better shooter and turns the ball over less.

If he starts with those ratings, he should have B potential.

Unless you believe he can put up Stockton numbers off the bench, I don't see how he has a huge amount of room to grow.

Calderon is a starting poing guard in the NBA. He just happens to be playing on a team that has two starting point guards, and he doesnt mind coming off the bench. He's better than Luke Ridnour. WHAT?!?! Yea, look at the stats.

I dont see why he would have any less potential than a Telfair or Nelson. His improvement from last season to this season was quite noticeable so he has shown the ability to improve from one year to the next. He shouldnt have max potential, but good potential is certainly realistic.

In this league?
Nelson has B potential. Telfair has A. The difference in ratings (potential aside) between Telfair and Jose is big. Calderon needs a little growth here and there and he would be a damn good PG. Telfair would need good potential just to reach Calderon's starting point. If Calderon had A potential, chances are, he would become the best PG in the game. If he had solid B potential (say, near max B) he could have some very nice ratings. Telfair needs A potential. If he had B potential, he would be a late 1st at best.

Whatever the rating, he should have potential.

With high potential, at the very least, the D would come. He would've be playing lock down D but it would be at Marbury's level. Rebounding would as well though it would still more then likely be mediocre.
As for potential, even with B potential, he would still have good potential. Just not enough to turn into a star, unless you believe he will be a star in which case, I don't have much else to add.

Based on current performance, Calderon is a very good player and should be rated accordingly. He's a good young point guard with potential... if he ends up a "star" then oh well. The league needs some good pg's anyways and if Fortson can avg 28/12 on 48% shooting, then a guy like Calderon turning into a very good player isnt ludicrous.

Jose Caldeon - C+ C+ B- C D- A
During 05-06 he got 5.5 ppg with a 3 to 1 assist to TO Ratio. He shot 42% from the field and 16% from 3. He was a very good FT shooter at 85% though.
