That since we all invest so much time into this league and yea it's fun, sure it's competitive, but what is it missing?
MONEY!
What if...
$5 a season for each team
which totals $145
Spence would receive half of this amount for all the hard work he puts into the league.
totals $70
leaves $72
30% of the original total goes to the league champion
totals $50
leaves $25 for incentive pay
$5 2nd place
leaves $20
$1 each division winner $1 MVP $.50 First All League team ($2.50 total) $.50 First All Defensive team ($2.50 total) $.50 ROY $.50 6th Man
leaves $9
$.50 Dunk champ $.50 3pt champ $.25 All-Star ($5 total)
leaves $3
Lead the league in...
$.50 Scoring $.50 Rebounding $.50 Assist $.50 Blocks $.50 Steals $.25 Team most PPG $.25 Team least OPPG
Leaves $0
Finish the season with team salary....
25.1 to 30 million over, $2 Penalty Fee
30.1 or more, $5 Penalty Fee
Each GM would have to pay a 1 season security fee to ensure payment if contract is terminated or you just disappear. $10 to start. Employment termination in season would require unanimous decision by league council otherwise it would have to come at a season's end.
We would keep financial records on the boards to see the most successful franchises over the period of time.
Of course we would all need to set up pay pal accounts but if you are successful it could pay off as league champ would pay for the next 10 seasons. Also it just adds another twist and makes sure you are active without really breaking the bank. Of course any of the following above could be edited and is open for discussion but I think it's a great start for a guideline.

I tried to talk Spencer into charging money for his efforts years ago... Oddly, not even BBS years, but real years ago...

i think its easy enough for spence to agree to...we have a chance to make money and he makes money as well. like i said 1 championship = 10 yrs in the league free

i'm not for this, and would probably quit(to maybe nobody's loss but still) if it came to this. nothing personal, just putting it out there.
however, i have no problem with mailing spencer something for his efforts once in a while... i'm just not for transfering my own money via internet.

All of the crap outside of rewarding the winner is gimmicky, but if the entire league consents, I'm down for rewarding the winner. However, Duce already objected, so I don't think it's worth it.

Repayment for everything besides the Champ would just be taken out of the following years fee.
Duce you never used PayPal before? Never bought any item online or used Ebay before?

go magic...
kru... nah i've never transfered money online... i guess i'm uncomfortable and slightly paranoid about it... but i don't plan to do it ever honestly.
i wouldn't mind mailing 5 bills per season but the flaw in that is that i'm not gonna get mailed 25 cents or 50 cents when i win those small things(lol), and these seasons kinda go by fast.
i'm not trying to ruin the improvement of this league, i just don't see myself being a part of that, but i'm not all closed minded about it. but sending like 25-30 dollars per year - i dunno about that.

Erm.. it's a nice idea, but it won't happen. Mostly for the same reason it didn't happen years ago.

no one would mail you anything back such as .50 or whatever it would be taken off the following year's league fee so instead of paying $5 you would pay 4.50 via money order.

considering alot of people are under the age of 18 and don't own a credit card/debit card or their own bank account, I don't see it happening.

I like the idea Dave but all the leagues Ive ever been in have been turned off by the idea of paying. Basically it broke up because alot of owners did not want to pay or couldnt pay, prolly the first reason is the big reason why. And, Im sure Spencer wouldnt mind getting money, but I dont think he wants to manage the money either.

Still a good idea, could be something Spencer can look at for the future.

i discussed this with dave on the way up to nyc
great idea, i'm up for sending money through paypal to spencer, $5 per season
i use it a lot, as safe as can be, so if you're scared about using it, there's no reason
a good idea for a new league, maybe too late to do this now

I really dont want money for doing this and dont want to make people pay to be part of it. I was thinking of some kind of Vegas section that would allow trading and betting of reward camps. Not really into the whole cash thing though.

$5 per season breaks down to about .05 cents a day for a season....just thought i would toss that out there

It's a good idea but IMO it would have to be done in a new league where people joining have the knowlege that they have to pay before the league starts.
