In what turned out to be a true exciting finish for the National League Wild Card, New York (N) and Houston were forced to play a 1-game playoff to determine who would advance into the postseason.
New York (N) 7, Houston 4.
And, with that, the playoff field is set.........
Kansas City vs. New York (A) Seattle vs. Los Angeles (A)
New York (N) vs. Washington St. Louis vs. San Francisco
First playoff sim will be Thursday night! Get your exports in! Or, if every playoff team gets their exports in, and are ready to go, I will be available to sim tomorrow evening. _____________________________________________________
***A HUGE blow to the NL East Champion Washington Nationals, as they lose leadoff man Endy Chavez for the remainder of the season with a torn back muscle.
***Toronto's Johan Santana sets a new season Toronto-Record for Wins with 22.
***San Francisco's Rafael Furcal sets a new season San Francisco-Record for Stolen Bases with 62.
***Another playoff team, the New York Mets, will be without starter James Blade for the better part of 6 weeks, as he suffered a pulled bicep muscle.
Other news of note to playoff teams.........
***LAA: Pedro Martinez was injured while pitching. Diagnosis: Stiff Shoulder. He is day-to-day, but full recovery will take 5 days.
***WAS: Randy Winn is sick. Diagnosis: Viral Infection. He is day-to-day, but full recovery will take 1-2 weeks.

Oh well, just missed the playoffs but I can't complain. I didn't really expect to contend at the beginning of the season and yet I made a nice little run. A few guys really stepped up this season and I'm feeling really good about where this team should be next season, especially with Fischer looking good in the majors and Murphy coming up to start the season. Things are looking up in Oakland.
And that really sucks for Houston, they almost won 100 games and didn't make the playoffs.

Looks like Endy Chavez will be a FA, you could sign him for the 10 mil he wants. You'd make the playoffs for sure then. And you're already in debt, who cares about money?

Steve, what was my record, how did I do in the sim, what was St. Louis' and what happened in my game with the mets? You went 2-2. 0-1 vs. ATL, 2-1 vs. CHC. Finished 98-65. (I assume 98-64 if you don't include the Mets game) STL finished 99-63. Against the Mets, Santiago Ramirez started, went 4.1, 11 H, 7 R, 6 ER. Tommy Whiteman hit 2 HR. You were up 4-3 in the 5th and Ramirez gave up 4 runs. No more scoring for the rest of the game.

Great to know Lance Berkman was benched at CF so my backup with 4 hitting ratings and 3% playing time could play in the most important game of the season.

Blade out, whatever, as long as he doesn't have a ratings hit then we're fine. Penny-Suppan-Middlebrook-Seo would be the four starters I'd use anyway.
No Endy for Washington is pretty sick for me too.

fuck... so close to a winning record. We also lost 2 million despite a 37 million dollar payroll.

3-1. Good sim to end the year. Beat the Mariners, but Pedro got hurt pitching will be out 5 more days, going to have to push him off from a start I guess. Sucks. We got 2/3 from the As. Solid series won. We got hot there in the last game so this will be good going into the mariners series.
Mauer had a great year 330 BA, 12 HR 79 RBIS. Nice stuff.
Guzman was a beast all year. 342 avg, 19 hrs 88 rbis, 225 hits. Soriano looks like a great addition to the infield, Youk had a much improved year, lane was solid. Sanchez looks to be a good OF, 45 SB.Owens looks to be the future for our OF. Matsui and Harvey had solid years as well.
Pitching was shaky, Pedro had a sick season of couse, should get cy young. Morris had a respectable record, otherwise guys were mediocre. Pen was not bad, Krod got 45 Saves, career high, good shit right there.
Lets do this boys! Should be a good series.
