People are getting on haberman for not making an effort to compete without having his first this season… he at least made some kind of deals. Galo hasn’t made a single trade all-season and is probably in the top 5 when it comes to being impossible to deal with. Galo has had one of the worst overall records in the past 10 seasons… I think this is where the contract year is “flawed.” Just because he saved himself one season by getting 40 wins…. He gets another 4 years to be bad before his contract year comes up again. That’s something I think needs to be looked at.
2002 - 18-64 2003 - 13-69 2004 - 36-46 2005 - 33-49 2006 - 36-46 2007 - 44-38 2008 - 45-37 2009 - 30-52 2010 - 32-50

He also won 2 championships. Hes done a horrible job since then, but you win 2 titles, you get more leeway.

Won 2 BBS championships. Outside the fact that people say he is hard to deal which I don't really know anything about I don't see the problem.

understandable... but when you make no effort to compete without having a 1st in two consecutive seasons i think atleast a comment should be made.
Sure he won 2 championships but that's a decade ago.

I guess we become a “what have you done for me lately” league when we feel like it.

Contract year isnt perfect. I think I need to have a more detailed penalty for being mediocre in between your losing seasons. I tried to start the 500 thing, but its a little harder to monitor.

but my point isn't that I think Galo should be in his contract year(although I think some consideration should be made) but the fact that he has no 1st this season or next season and still sits on his team and no one even made mention of this.

My point was how bad Aarons team was this year. Galo has a bad team, but they won 30+ games. His pick is like 8 or 9. Galo is less then mediocre, but he did enough so his pick wasnt a top 3 pick. I just know that weve had issues before with teams doing nothing when an elite team had their pick. I remember that when Hernando had Manas' pick, people were upset that Manas didnt try harder because it was gonna make Hernando better. Duce's team is very good, and will be better in part because Aaron didnt make his team better. To me its a completely different point.

Spence, so proud of you for getting on me. I dealt the fucking pick in the deal that got me Baron, and trading him and Odom ended up getting me Hinrich/Gordon/Maxiell/Curry/Ridnour...5 of my 6 best players the year I won a ring. Sorry I rebuilded. I really am.

Sorry I rebuilded. I really am. Oh wait, didn't Manas deal his pick the year before he won a ring? No, he didn't. You don't give any consideration to the fact that I made sacrifices to contend that season, and was willing to bite the bullet and rebuild. This is because you picked a stupid argument with no grounds to it.

I really dont know why Im being called out on this. Just because I didnt make a deal this season, doesnt me I havent been trying to make deals to make this team better. I had a deal in place for Carmelo Anthony but that didnt work out and he was dealt to Detroit. Most teams are inquiring about DeRozan these days but Im not gonna think of dealing him till I see how good he can be. So I like the direction of my team right now staying young and dealing some young guys for some vets soon I think we can become a winner again. But im not gonna make any more hasty moves like the Darko deal just for the sake of making a deal.
And who cares if i dont have my pick this year or next? I have a bunch of young guys I like and will try to develop then add some vets to become a winner. Its not like I wasnt trying to win this year, because I was. I just dont have the offensive pieces developed yet to compete and win games consisetently. But Ive proven I can win in my contract year and past it so Im not worried and you shouldnt be either. Just do us all a favor and worry about your own team. thanks.

I had one of the winningest teams in the BBS in the starting seasons but people shrug that off by saying that “competition wasn’t that good, that was to long ago, blah blah.” Which is why I said people make this a “what have you done for me lately league” when they want it to be. In all reality, if the BBS was so weak back then why are you held up so high in stature? That was ages ago, it’s proven that you’ve been the worst team record wise over the past 10 seasons! T-E-N! I don’t even remember you making it past the 1st round of the playoffs when you’ve made it.
Sure, in the past 5 seasons, I have nothing to brag about, but I’ve been bumped from team to team and up until now truly have a shot at running the team the way I see it.
This isn’t a direct shot at you… it’s just making my point that the contract year needs more “structure” and much more “concrete” rules when it comes to the contract year. When we’re in the year 2020 and you’ve had another losing season I can’t buy the well he has 2 championships excuse any longer.

Ive fucked up rebuilding then won now rebuilding again. Its taken some time but I should be expected to win again soon and thats what Im striving to do now.

i agree the contract year has some flaws but so far i think it has gotten rid of most of the guys who need to go so i wouldnt say it hasnt been unsuccessful... it isnt forcing people into a realistic win now situation though
