In BBS we acknowledge the accomplishments of players from season to season as well as game to game. As we award players for outstanding accomplishments for every game played, the best week, the best month, and even to the best season yet we fail to acknowledge the accomplishments of players for their careers.
Many recognize a player for his accomplishments during his career but many fail to remember how that player truly dominated the competition and the impact that player had on the league.
As a player enters retirement he will have a 3 year waiting period before he is eligible to enter the HOF. When the player is out of the league for three seasons that player will need to receive 75% of the votes in order to enter the HOF. Each GM will receive 2 nominee votes every season. A player will be eligible on the ballot for 5 seasons after waiting the 3 year period.
In addition to players entering the Hall of Fame, coaches will also be inducted to the Hall of Fame as well. A GM must be in the league as a head coach for 10 seasons before being eligible to be nominated. GM's must receive 75% of the votes in order to enter the HOF. Each GM will receive 2 nominations per season.
A Hall of Famer can be many things to this league. For players take into consideration his dominance over players of his position as well as the rest of the league. Consider the type of teams the player has played on and how successful were they with and without him. How many All-Star game did the player play in? How many times was he All-League team? Defensive team? MVP? DPOY? A player can be a Hall of Famer despite not winning a championship however rings help the cause.
As for GM's winning should be the main component in consideration of becoming a Hall of Famer however not the only. A GM should be acknowledged for what he brings to the league. Has the GM been a moderator for the boards in a certain area to make a contribution to the league? Does the GM bring a certain element of activity to the league? Does the GM show a crafty method of trading? Does the GM show superior skills in scouting via draft and free agency? How the GM shows an understanding for the Salary cap? How long does it take the GM to return to greatness after rebuilding? How many times has the GM led his team to win his division? conference? and how many times has he led them to a BBS Championship?
