This has been brought up. This would essentially make it even harder to continuously field a winner. If we lowered the hard Cap to 85, it would mean teams couldnt just MAX guys and keep them, theyd have to do some creative transactions to stay competitive.
How many NBA teams are 32 mill over the Cap?

the knicks were once 32 billion over the cap So its obviously extremely rare. I think it would be a good way of making it even more difficult to maintain a dynasty.

the knicks sucked when they were that far over

Ummm I would vote against this for obvious personal concerns. I've built this team to a T by looking at the hard cap of 96 mil. I guess I wouldn't be against it totally but essentially it would screw me over pretty badly.

What if we lowered it slowly.
96 93 90
Just went down to 90 maybe? Im willing to make some kinda of compromise.

Really its tough for me. Essentially this is my last year of a great run. Camby is the odd man out as he makes the most money on my team with Kwame and Crawford in contract years and I would like the opportunity to resign(that may change after TC). Also Sheed will most likely have to go as well if not possibly Rip. I essentially am looking at a buyout of Camby right now unless I unloaded him to someone else for an expiring or possibly another contract I can buy out. Either way I would love to keep the core of Manu, Dirk, and Brand together forever.

Oh yea forgot this simple solution...maybe lower it to 90 in 3 seasons from now? Give us all time to adjust and plan accordingly

That gives you 30-45 mill to fill out your roster. It sure isnt easy, but it isnt impossible. I just think that were getting to the point that we need to make the rules a little more strict to make the competition and challenge better.

Im also thinking about changing the free MAX rule. Limiting it to maybe 1 every 3 years. That makes it a little more challenging as well.

I like the idea of lowering the hard cap to 90 over a course of a few years. making the move to 90 right away would be pretty harsh to a lot of teams, also 85 might be too low. Spread it out a little bit and slowly do it. I might have some problems in the long run, like many, but well see.

Agreed, a little at a time to give teams chance to adapt.

Yep, wouldn't have taken the Cisse deal if I thought it would be 85, since that puts me at 86. That's just one example. But ya, slowly putting it to 90 is cool.

I wouldn't mind 90 as the hard cap but 85 would be really tough.

Keep it 96 this upcoming season
After the draft next season you have to be 93 or lower
After the draft the year after that you have to be 90 or lower
pretty much what spencer already said...but year.

I HATE the current MAX rule.
Gradually lowering the hard cap is the fairest way, just make sure you state exactly how its going to happen and what the final hard cap will be.

The MAX rule should be limited to once every so often, or done via probability / random number generation.
There is always the option of MAXing them in FA if they decide to test.

the max rule sucks
most resign anyway so why have even more resignings
it is almost impossible for a star to be ON the fa market, nevertheless sign a big fa
