interesting.....if there was a time to stay on track for live i think it should be now....really changed the games engine up overall.....i stopped after live '05....actually traded it in so i've been a 2k guy for the last few years, live for next gen has been awful imo...but live is impressive this year, so im goin with live.

wow a lot of live guys... to tell you the truth i was a live guy myself. HA i know. Anyway, it has sucked alot the past few years, game play really bad, IMO. NBA 2k7 was amazing, 2k6 was good too, 2k8 will probably be amazing as well. I find the graphics to not be as good, but the gamplay overall alot better than live, i could be wrong. But when i play live on the demo, the only thing i like are the graphics..

i've been kicking myself trying to decide on this for a week. it was always going to be a tough decision but now it's just annoying me.
i think nba 2k8 is the better demo. it's gameplay is clearly better as usual. the game atmosphere and the actual nba feel is way more there in 2k.
live's graphics and presentation are just ridiculous now though and their gameplay is not bad. the player models, the arena, it's all just sick.
i dunno. the wild card for me is that in 2k you can run a phx suns type of offense in that game, because the buttons allow you do it. i would love to build a team in dynasty-mode that can pull that off. but on the other hand live probly has a better dynasty mode in general. ahh it's just heated. don't know wtf ima do.

the 2k series is far and away the best, live doesn't even compare. I used to be a live guy, but the game has really regressed...it's like a fuckin arcade game.
I'd take 2k over live 10X out of 10

i've decided on 2k by the way, live's gameplay is going the right way but there is a ton to be fixed still.

any opinions on either game now that they came out yesterday? I've always gone with EA Sports and got Live in the past, but I have a feeling I should go with 2K8 for the NBA this year.

Highly recommend NBA 2k8. Best sports game I've ever played. If you're the type of person that's looking for realism, realistic stats, player actions/animations and team styles... you'll want NBA 2k8. It is unbelievable how realistic it plays.

I had read a lot of previews before the games came out, and that's the feeling I was getting from it. I guess my real question is if Live was able to compare decently to 2K8 because I figured that 2K8 was gonna be awesome.

I was absolutely unreal at NBA Live 2004. They can vouch. 4th in the nation on XBOX Live at one point, then I got bored, and don't really play much video games anymore. Plus, they fixed the glitch that made me so good.

I've been getting a basketball game the past probably 8 years, but the past 2 years I've bought it and probably spent maybe 2 hours total playing it.

same with me... with Madden anyways. I got the new Madden 08 it's basically Madden 07 with updated rosters... I don't even really play it. I just do a fantasy draft and sim a whole bunch of years.
I won the Superbowl like 3 years in a row with Vince Young, Reggie Bush, and Lee Evans ha

Plus, they fixed the glitch that made me so good. I was 10th on PS2. I was playing one night, and was up 40 at the end of the first and my internet went out. I got the loss and never picked it up again. I beat the number one guy twice before that loss by 20 each time, pissed me off. What was the glitch? I pressed people on the in-bounds play, they were unable to get past half court. Also just shot three pointer after three pointer with Billups and Prince and grabbed every rebound with Wallace.

IGN review said NBA 2k8 was a really great game, some minor things wrong with it, but those guys are pricks so fuck em. The game is suppose to be great. So i will get this hopefully soon.
NBA live 08 i hear sucks again, graphics are great but gameplay and everything else blows. they cant get that game right.

eh i read the ign review earlier today. the criticisms were extremely invalid. i hear things like... you can make 'shaq a shut down perimeter defender and that's just horrible!'... well shit, stop playing shaq on the perimeter then lol, what kind of jackass does that? they literally made this out to be a gamekiller but it's so easily avoidable.
gamespot.com's review has much more validity to it, i would definitely recommend reading that as their criticisms and observations are mostly in line with what i see in my experience with the game.

That was the 'glitch'. I stole every inbounds pass. Had like 100 steals a game. No one else could really do it to me, it was awesome. I'd spot people 80 points. Was 59-0 when I was 4th in the nation, then lost one, didn't play for a week, got pissed, and kind of put it down.
