i understand why ur upset by this ur not of age and i felt the same way when i was not of age. But when i think about all the stupid things i did when i was in highschool or even my first couple yrs of college. It really is unbelieevable how ive grown. How early do people start drinking now 16 17 18 . what if we lower the drinking afge will there be 13 14 yr olds going to the corner grocer to get beer. And as far as your other point. when someone goes into K mart to buy a rifle they are in there for a reason whether it be to kill a deer or a person. They have something in mind. The scarry thing about alcohol is it does things that u dont intend to do. Do u think jayson williams wanted to kill his limo driver. or a drunk driver wanted to hit a person. ciggarettes, guns, chew, and whatever dont alter ur decisions alcohol does.

It doesn't stop me from drinking. haha. I believe you that you are more mature when you are 21 then 18. I hope I am too haha. But do you think that if the drinking age is lowered to 18 that the maturity gap will be a big difference between an 18 year old and a 21 year old? I really don't know. I do feel that for people to be responsible they need to have responsbilities. Some will mess up, but they will do it at 18 or 21. I think that if the drinking age is lowered or not, especially if it is lowered though, the government needs to make fake ids much harder to get and easier for sellers of alcohol to obtain.

i'm not either but i talk to people i work with and they say that when the drinking age was 18 they would go to the bar on there lunch break man high school prolly would have been more fun. speaking of work. Did anyone hear about Jose Offerman? The ducks chances are seriously diminished now

there was a 40 year old guy who always bought alcohol for high school kids in this area if he knew them... last summer 4 of them went out driving on one of the main backroads to get around town when they were drunk (the people were ages 19 18 17 16)
girl driving killed the 2 (17 and 16 year olds) in the back seat and put her and other girl in hospital for 2 months... the girl driving is now going to jail for 2 years and older guy for a long time
im not saying this is why you shouldnt lower the drinking age because some people will never learn to not drink and drive (girl who wrecked got a dui after accident) but i think it would be better left at 21
yes it isnt fair in a lot of reasons because you can serve your country and not legally drink a beer but it will keep alcohol out of the hands of more minors who cant control themselves then it would at 18

Develop a "drinking license". Essentially a list of questions and tests to see if you can handle your liquor. You can apply for a drinking license whenever you want, and once you pass the test, you can drink!
Genius.

i agree with rommie, he makes some good points.
drinking license would be a good idea. though really if you lower the drinking age or not kids will still drink. it really does not matter.

i think most people know things they shouldnt do when they are drinking and would be able to answer that on a test for the drinking exam
even if they know what they shouldnt do it doesnt mean they wont do it

Yea lower the age limit so your car insurances sky rocket even more. I guess the ones voting for this one dont have to worry about driving unless they are rich or there parents pay for everything. Ive had plenty of horrible stories in my life due to drinking. Its one of the worst drugs being so easy to get ahold of while putting others in harm way. Alcohol license is plain stupid, yea so people can be like well I havent got caught yet I still have 2 chances to fuck up. Thats just asking for trouble.

"But if people at 18 don't have enough experience and be responsible to drink then why do they have enough experience to buy a gun, get married and have a family, smoke, chew, buy a house, have a full time job, serve in the miliitary, etc but these same 18-20 year olds are not mature and responsible enough to drink a beer? "
Game over. Lol, a gun > beer.

I think people who believe that bringing the drinking age down to 18 is wrong are naive, and bringing the age down is the smart choice. Pardon me if I reiterate some points that people already make didn't have a chance to look at everyones opinions in depth.
Alcohol is accessible where I am from like candy, one phone call and I have a nice 30 rack or handle for the night. One of the biggest questions I have though is when I am 21, is drinking still going to be fun? People can make the point that once you pass 21 you become more mature and slow down but the fact that you lose the "rebellious" action must have some type of impact. Bender made a point that 13 and 14 year olds would be by a grocery store if it was lowered to 18 but aren't they already there?
In essence I think the psychological aspect would curb drinking, lower it to 18 years old but keep all the BAC to .02 till you are 21.
