This is one of the worst contracts given out. Way too much for way too long for a guy who won't be worth it at any point.

I like Soriano, I love the 40/40 thing (won't be doing that again), but he's just not worth anywhere near that money. Not even if he repeats last year 3-4 times, which he won't do.

maybe true but there's no denying that lee-soriano-ramirez(plus pierre) will be one of the most feared orders in the NL... they needed something to counter the Cardinals and Astros from pitching around them.
i hate soriano's defense however and i just wonder if they'll regret that. he's not a high percentage player but hes a playmaker... you're right habes but for them personally, their fans are going to love it because they aren't like espn-insiders or whatever.

that is to say, pitching around lee... now if only their pitchers could grow arms that aren't made of craete paper...

Yeah, he's exciting and they have a pretty nice lineup, but honestly, eight years? 136 million? It's an awful deal. Also, did you hear anything about them keeping Pierre? Every indication I've heard is that he won't be back.

i dont think ramiirez is that good. when have the cubs pitchers stayed healthy. juan pierre needs to get his head out of his ass. = no championship for another 50 yrs

people said beltran was overpaid with his contract. soriano is a less complete player than beltran and getting an even bigger contract.

the thing is, beltran is one of the best defenders in the league and was hitting clutch playoff hr's in houston beforehand. so i don't know who was hating on that deal, i wasn't.

speaking of overspending, can you believe the sox(my sox... unfortunately...) paid that assload of money to negotiate with that pitcher?
i saw him pitch in that WBC and he was nice but so was the likes of adrian beltre and such, it's a lot to invest in such an unknown talent.

That's a lot of money for a player like Soriano but it's nice to see the Cubs active in the free agent market.

all i know if my marlins will be getting Rocco soon and fuck all the other teams....But this deal is crazy...Sweet Lou is now in charge in Chicago....They will never win with Wood and Prior on that team.....Those two are like the Lebron curse in the BBS....Dont see the Cubs doing much...As for the Red Sox signing that Japenese guy....I love the move now they need to trade Manny to Texas for Micheal Young and sign Drew and Lugo and Lilly....and for Carlos Beltran being clutch in the playoffs where was he this year haha....And Ur right duce Derek Lee gets no love....Best defensive 1st basemen in the game and prob top 3 hitting 1st basemen in the league....Just everybody watch out for the Florida Marlins this year...Josh Johnson = CY Young.....Cabrera = MVP....Jason Stokes = Rookie of the Year....

obviously don't like the contract either... he is what the Cubs need though
I'm still excited about the Reds signing Alex Gonzalez and Mike Stanton (both big upgrades of two of our biggest holes last year)

Either way... you're SS situation must have been pretty sad last season...
