Bulls trade: Lamar Odom Josh McRoberts Marcus Williams
Cavs trade: Kenyon Martin David Lee
Dave, I had to leave and you weren't on AIM when I left. Assuming you still wanna do this, here it is.
KMart was going to be a reserve this year with David Lee coming in, so I figured I might as well make a move and get a good scorer at SF or someone who probably has a little more trade value for a #1 scorer. McRoberts is still really young and could be solid and sort of similar to Lee. Also, Lee was gonna kill me after this year since he was expiring and I wouldn't be able to bring him back along with other pieces because of the hard cap.

I'm still pretty clueless on what to do with my DC soooo many options and we should still be a pretty good team this season.

Nova, this deal doesn't mean anything to anyone but you. Why don't you just deal for a big man and stop worrying about mediocre teams?

Never said you were. This deal doesn't really change how I look at your team.

Nova you need to stop playing it safe. You relied way too much on your youth. With all the guys available over the offseason you should have gone after one of the premier guys. Brand, Kobe, Curry, Dirk, and Duncan all moved. You need to acquire the best to be one of the best. Just my 2 cents. I think you've done a good job overall and i think spence will give you another season before you enter the contract year but stop being so hesitant.

Not taking a shot at Nova but I'm glad we didn't deal Brand or TC for Daye and Ibaka, although I still like Daye

Also I think Nova did a pretty good job in free agency making key signings of Stackhouse, Lafrentz, Andre Miller, Keith Closs. I know Dre Miller has a stigmatism of being an underachiever but he is a solid pickup for the minimum. Lafrentz can easily be a spot starter or key bench player as well grabbing him for the minimum.
To Nova's defense Joe Johnson is a premier player the guy is incredible across the board and I think could thrive in a #1 option role, something he was not in Chicago. Nova will have to continue to be crafty if he wants to keep his youth and succeed at the same time.

JJ is a good all star type guy but i dont see him as a premiere top 20 type player

It's not as if I kept every young guy I've drafted. I've kept two of them, and it's only because good young bigs are so hard to come by.
I could have gone after the premier guys, and I had a chance at several of them, but I felt it did my team no good in the long run. It still wouldn't have made me a contender, sure I would assure myself 40 wins, but it would only hurt my team and make my job more difficult in the long run.
JJ is not a top 20 player, I agree with you, but he's definitely a very good SG.
Have I been reluctant to part with youth? Yes, because I don't want to deal off all my youth for late-20's stars, compete for 2-3 years, then rebuild all over again. I'd rather continuously improve, let my young guns develop, and then make deals along the way.

Nova you did well but I disagree with you I think JJ is a top 20 caliber player. He is a top 5 defender at the 2 guard position

Yeah, im not bashing you nova. I think you've a real good job. Im just more of a risk taker and have more of a fuck it attitude. I mean the ultimate goal is to win the ring not to be a perennial playoff contender. Your on the right track though.
Krup name your top 20 then. I would like to see where JJ ranks in your estimation. He's a very good sg but not top 20.

Yeah, im not bashing you nova. I think you've a real good job. Im just more of a risk taker and have more of a fuck it attitude. I mean the ultimate goal is to win the ring not to be a perennial playoff contender. Your on the right track though. Oh, I absolutely 100% agree with you, and that is exactly why I did not make a deal for someone like Brand. A SL of Barbosa-Brewer-Marvin-Arthur-Brand is still nowhere near as good as the SL's of teams like Detroit, NY, San Antonio, & Minny. I would have been a playoff team yes, and maybe made the 2nd round, but there's no chance I would have gotten any farther. Basically, Arthur & brewer won't be in their primes for another season or two, and by that time, Brand will most likely begin to decline, and it just wouldn't have worked out. If Brand were 2 years younger, I would have accepted that deal, but it just didn't make sense with the age/development of the rest of my team. As for being a risk-taker, I am one as well generally, but not when it's clear that there's very little chance that it pays off. For example, in NBN 2 seasons ago, I up and traded a lot of youth & 1sts to get some great veteran players, and I ended up winning the title. Now, the difference between that situation and this one is twofold. First, that season in the NBN was wide open and I believed adding those players made me a very tough match-up for any team, and I was wright. Meanwhile, IMO, Detroit, NY, San Antonio, Minny, & LA are head and shoulders above anyone else right now, particularly Detroit & Ny, and adding Brand or TD or Curry or TC wouldn't have improved me enough to make it a deal worth doing. Second, most of the young guys I dealt that season were not all that great and I really wasn't fond of them, whereas Arthur & Ibaka both seem to have a lot of promise & could be a great frontcourt in the future. Basically, I take risks when I feel they are worth taking, and I just didn't feel comfortable doing any of those deals. If I was just going to sit on my youth & hope for the best, I wouldn't have acquired Barbosa & JJ. I'm trying to win, but I'm also trying not to ruin my future just to win 40 games & compete for 2-3 seasons and then have to rebuild again.

I would bet that you are right. I don't discount your ratings but players on subpar teams get inflated while very good players on great teams take a hit in ratings due to lack of touches etc.
I think he would fall somewhere in top 40
